Marlins Defeat Nationals, 7-4
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Nationals Park.

The Miami Marlins defeated the Washington Nationals, 7-4, in 11 innings. Ron Rudisill, who finished 4th in the NL in RBI with 127 in 2044, played a big role. Rudisill went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and a triple, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for the Marlins in the win. Raylin Hase recorded the save for Miami, his 1st of the season.

Miami used the timely hitting of Billy White to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Marlins on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I felt good up there," said White. "I saw the ball well."

Washington now is 6-6.
