Hit Parade: Hess Pops 5 Hits Friday, July 27th , 2035 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Mike Hess -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Pittsburgh Pirates Complex and paced the 13-8 Braves win over the Pittsburgh (DSL) Pirates Gold. After his dynamite batting performance, the Atlanta (DSL) third baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Mike Hess singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jim Copley in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Erik Milford in the 8th. This year, Hess is hitting .444 with 32 hits, 6 home runs, 29 RBIs and has scored 29 runs. View Boxscore |
