Astros Reel-In 10-3 Win Over Nationals
|
Framber Valdez, who is tied for 10th in the AL in quality starts with 2, had a strong outing for the Houston Astros against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 10-3 win. The winning pitcher was Valdez, now 4-0. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The Nationals, now 7-12, continue their sluggish start.
Wade Meckler, who is tied for 10th in the AL in hits with 24, helped out the Houston cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Framber has the heart of a gladiator," said Houston manager Doug Mientkiewicz.
