Kansas City turned a good effort from starter Josh Wood into a win over the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. The final score was 7-2. The Royals go to 54-104 with the win.

It could have been a different outcome for Kansas City, had it not been for Cooper Oeltjen, the 27-year old first baseman . Oeltjen contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Kansas City up, 2-0.

"No disrespect to the other team," said Kansas City manager Jared Gothreaux. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
