Reds 1B Encarnacion-Strand goes 3-for-5 in Win
|
Behind a fine performance from Christian Encarnacion-Strand, the Cincinnati Reds knocked off the Minnesota Twins, 7-4. Encarnacion-Strand went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Reds. Josiah Gray notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 7-1. Alexis Diaz collected save number 34.
There was more than one reason the Reds beat the Twins, but Encarnacion-Strand's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Reds manager Collin Cowgill, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
Cincinnati has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.
