New York Slaps 7-4 Loss on Los Angeles
|
The New York Yankees withstood a fine game by Los Angeles right fielder Alec Burleson at Yankee Stadium, to upend the Angels, 7-4. Burleson went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. Ian Hamilton earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-4. The triumph makes New York 33-82.
Tied up with the Angels in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Yankees got a boost from catcher Tyler Soderstrom. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Soderstrom saw a full count fastball from Tyler Mahle and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put New York on top, 3-2.
"Nice to get this one," said Soderstrom. "Wins have been hard to come by."
