Amarillo Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
A classic and dramatic Round 1 has wrapped up, with the Amarillo Sod Poodles outlasting the San Antonio Missions to advance to the Round 2.

Amarillo won the final game by a score of 7-2 and took the series 3-2.

"We can enjoy this one tonight, but then it's back to work and thinking about the next win," said Amarillo third baseman Jose Fernandez, whose standout performance earned him the nod as series MVP.

Fernandez hit .435 with a .435 on-base percentage. He had 5 home runs, drove in 12 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Amarillo Sod Poodles will play against the Wichita Wind Surge in the next round. Wichita won their series against the Springfield Cardinals 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
