Giants Heading to Round 2

Anyelo Gonzalez said he didn't even realize how well he had been playing in the Round 1 until he was shown his own statistics.
The San Jose Giants catcher put up a .357 average with 2 home runs, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored, enough to earn him series MVP honors. It all added up to his Giants advancing to the Round 2, with a 4-1 series win over the Fresno Grizzlies.
"I didn't really pay attention to the numbers or my stats at all as we went along," he said. "I'm just so focused on trying to help the team win, that's it."
The series victory had become official with a 4-2 triumph at Chukchansi Park. Even if Gonzalez is not paying close attention to his stats, the rest of baseball certainly will be keeping an eye on him as the playoffs continue.
"I like to be under pressure and think I respond well to it," he said.
The San Jose Giants will play against the Lake Elsinore Storm in the next round. Lake Elsinore won their series against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
