The Rome Emperors "proved we can handle pressure" by beating the Round 1 and eliminating the Greenville Drive, according to series MVP Maxwell Costes.

"This is the big stage, we're off to the Round 2 and looking towards the Round 2," he said. "There's a lot of pressure at this time of year and it's only going to get more intense from here. But I think we can handle it just fine."

Rome won the final game 4-3, to wrap up the series 4-2.

Costes led his team to the series win by putting up a .375 average, with a .464 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 7 runs.

The Rome Emperors don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Aberdeen Ironbirds - Hudson Valley Renegades series. Aberdeen leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
