Angels Squelch Royals Offense in Shutout Win
Reid Detmers, who is tied for 7th in the AL with a 10.5 K/9 rate, imposed his will on the Royals from the get-go. Relying mainly on his slider, the left-hander spearheaded the 4-0 Los Angeles triumph. The Angels move to 22-26 with the win, while the Royals drop to 24-23.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Lourdes Gurriel Jr.? The Los Angeles left fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Angels on top, 2-0. For the game, Gurriel Jr. had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
