Lowell Squanders Great Game by Booth
|
The Lowell Knights got a sterling performance from shortstop Thad Booth, but the Winnipeg Goldeyes still prevailed, 5-4. Booth went 4-4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Don Morgan notched his 33rd save in 34 chances. The Goldeyes now have a mark of 76-77.
Ray Maddox, who finished 5th in the WL in doubles with 40 in 2085, helped out the Winnipeg cause in the top of the ninth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the second baseman was 2-4 with a double. He scored 2 runs.
"We ground out the win," said Maddox. "That's all that matters."
