Nuggets End Willhoite's Streak Saturday, July 26th, 2025 It was the best of both worlds for the Logansport Nuggets today at UCCU Ballpark, as they defeated the Orem Owlz 12-1 and also snapped Trace Willhoite's 21-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old Orem first baseman failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Willhoite, we just wanted to win the game," said Nuggets skipper Greg Lozano. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Willhoite frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." This season Willhoite is batting .366 with 8 home runs. |
