Blue Jays Top Brewers, 8-4
|
Due in large part to first baseman Jesus Vigil, the Toronto Blue Jays sunk the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-4. Vigil was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was Luis Patino. He tossed 90 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Jose Garcia picked up the save for Toronto, his 3rd of the year.
Jerry Sanchez took Milwaukee hurler Adelino Brederode deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 3-run home run put the Blue Jays on top, 6-4. In all, Sanchez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Sanchez told the Toronto Herald. "It's as simple as that."
At 92-64, Toronto is in third place in the American League East Division.
