Pirates Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
Pittsburgh third baseman Alex Ortega was a significant contributor in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Cincinnati Reds. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Pirates. Robby Whiting snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Doug Dunn suffered the loss. The losing skid has reached 7 games for Cincinnati.
Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of Danny Cardenas to snag the win. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Pirates ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"I like our moxie," said Pirates manager Young-dong Yang.
