Dodgers Popped by Cubs, 10-1
|
The exploits of first baseman Greg Cox, who is a two-time All-Star, helped the Chicago Cubs defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 10-1. Cox was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Chicago pitcher Miles Langhorne got the win. He's now 4-8. Chris Thompson was tagged with the loss. With the win, Chicago raised its record to 70-56.
Chicago used a clutch at-bat from Phil Bloor to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Cubs ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Bloor. "And not try to do too much."
