Orlando Rays starter Rich Smith turned in an exceptional performance against the Baltimore Orioles at Publix Park, resulting in a Orlando win, 4-2. Juan Solorio earned the save, his 40th, for the Rays. With the win, the Rays hiked their record to 77-45.
Smith, who was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, threw 100 pitches over 8 innings, while allowing 2 runs.
"Rich has got a slow heartbeat," said Orlando manager Mike Pelfrey. "He doesn't panic or anything."
