Cannon Ballers Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
|
With a narrow 4-3 series win, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers have eliminated the Delmarva Shorebirds and are Round 1 winners.
"We tried not to look ahead to the Round 2, but we thought we'd be there for sure," said right fielder Ben Schimmel, who was named series MVP.
Kannapolis won the final game by a score of 4-2, wrapping it up at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
Schimmel's big series saw him hit .448 with a .448 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers will play against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the next round. Myrtle Beach had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
