Royals Collect 7-5 Win Over Mariners
|
Seattle got a terrific game from second baseman Mike Sanders. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Kansas City, 7-5, in 15 innings. Sanders went 5-6 with 2 doubles, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The American League Central Division-leading Royals have a record of 34-23.
Kansas City needed the clutch hitting of Ronnie Tharp to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 15th inning to put the Royals on top, 7-5. For the game, Tharp had 1 home run and 2 singles in 8 at-bats.
In postgame remarks, Tharp said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
