Rawls Torches Rattlers for 5 Hits Thursday, January 12th , 2079 After a 5-hit effort to lead Waipukurau's 19-0 victory over the Warkworth Rattlers, first baseman Rick Rawls told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the NEW ZEALAND WINTER LEAGUE-level is really something special." The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Rattlers Grove with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Rattlers. "His swing is getting there," said Invaders skipper , who spoke glowingly of Rawls after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Rick did that to perfection." Rick Rawls hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
