Gerardo Gutiérrez Drills 3 HR in One Game Friday, June 25th , 2066 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Cerveceros de la Habana today. Yanquis third baseman Gerardo Gutiérrez tripled up on the home runs to propel the de Florida to the 18-5 win at Ballpark Cubana. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Cerveceros manager said. "Gutiérrez hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Gutiérrez collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Gerardo Gutiérrez hit a solo-shot off Duy Bao Lien in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Lee-Chun Chong in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Hugh Yelverton in the 7th and struck out in the 8th. This year Gutiérrez is hitting .368 with 6 home runs and 8 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .455 clip and scored 8 runs. |
