Chicago Crafts 5-2 Win
|
San Diego got a terrific performance from pitcher Jack Preston, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Cubs. Chicago won the Wrigley Field contest, 5-2. Preston threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The setback makes the Padres 7-12.
Chicago took a 3-2 lead on Kazuo Murakami's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Murakami hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Diego pitcher Kendall Potter visibly frustrated.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Murakami told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
