"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Izo Sakuma of the Tulsa Drillers proved the point at Arvest Ballpark, holding the Northwest Arkansas Naturals to 6 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Sakuma made us look real bad today," Naturals manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Sakuma had 6 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks as the Drillers took the 10-0 win.

Up to now Sakuma has compiled an ERA of 2.43 with a 11-2 mark over 18 starts. He has 121 strikeouts in 144.2 innings and has held opponents to a .199 batting average.
