Thoroughbreds Lose to Cardinals, 5-3
|
The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Busch Stadium, knocking off the Orlando Thoroughbreds, 5-3. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander David Aceves. He played a key role in the triumph. In 7.2 innings, Aceves surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 3 runs. Todd Travers recorded the save, making him 10 for 11.
Mitsuzuka Yamakawa hit a solo home run off Juan Zamora in the bottom of the third, which put the Cardinals ahead, 1-0. In addition to the homer, Yamakawa had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.
