Pirates Victorious at Houston, 6-5
|
Houston shortstop Roland Ramos had a good game, even if his team did not. The Astros dropped a 6-5 decision to Pittsburgh at Minute Maid Park. Ramos was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Raymundo Virgen, who threw 93 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits. Pittsburgh bumps their record to 69-74 with the win.
Don Juan Morillo had a big run-scoring double for the Pirates in the top of the fifth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 5-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from David González, who is tied for 8th in the NL in quality starts with 17, and swatted a double to right. It was his 31st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pirates ahead, 6-2.
"Not the sexiest win," said Pirates manager Kris Abrams, "but I'll take it."
