Scheff Goes 6-for-6
|
A jubilant Anthony Scheff joined the postgame press conference at Prince George's Stadium to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Bowie Baysox pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Erie SeaWolves left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 6-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 13-5 SeaWolves win.
"He made it look easy," said , manager of the Baysox. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Anthony Scheff hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Dom Hazelwood in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Falco Riekerink in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Samuel González in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In 57 games this season, Scheff has compiled a .320 batting average with 80 hits and 23 home runs. He has also scored 49 times and knocked in 58 runs.
