Otters CF Benson Gets the Cycle
|
In an outing that will go down in the annals of league history, San German center fielder Caine Benson hit for the cycle, as the Otters marched to victory over the Maunabo Quakes, 14-13.
Benson collected 4 hits in 6 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to help San German take the Lopes Ballpark contest.
"It was the last thing on my mind, really," Benson said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway."
Caine Benson tripled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Florencio Balleza in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
So far this season, Benson has recorded a .340 batting average with 16 hits, 1 home run, 8 RBIs, 6 runs scored and a .415 OBP.
