The Portland Rose knocked off the Anchorage Otters, 8-1, in American League action at The Garden. Portland pitcher and Ceiba, Puerto Rico, native Wander Sánchez had an outstanding performance. Portland, now 63-72, holds down third place in the American League Northwest.

The Otters had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Rose going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old center fielder Félix Bautista came to the plate. Bautista hit a 2-run double on a first pitch splitter from Anchorage hurler Hiroki Chikafuji. It was Bautista's 27th double of the year.

"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Bautista.
