The Seattle Mariners powered past the Guadalajara Tequileros, 8-3, at T-Mobile Park. Yoshiya Kubota went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. The Mariners sport a record of 48-74.

The Tequileros had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Mariners going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old shortstop Jason Ross came to the plate. Ross hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Guadalajara hurler Rafael Calderon. It was Ross's 24th home run of the year.

Kubota attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
