Atlanta Carves Out 8-2 Win
|
Atlanta turned a good effort from starting pitcher Quang Huy Wyse into a win over the Washington Nationals at Ally Ballpark. The final score was 8-2 in 11 innings. Atlanta reliever Lee Sambuco was the winner. His record is now 6-6. Donavon Boldon took the loss. Atlanta, now 47-65, holds down third place in the National League South.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 25-year old second baseman Arlen Stemler. Stemler had a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Hammers ahead, 3-2. For the game, Stemler had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Big win," said Wyse.
