The Bronx Bombers could not turn a fine performance from catcher Pietro Palogruto into a win. Instead, the Detroit Tigers prevailed, 5-4. Palogruto went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Quang Huy Wyse, the winner, is now 12-8. He struck out 4 and walked 3 over 6 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 56-50.

Detroit used the hitting of Soo Mar to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Tigers on top, 3-2. For the game, Mar had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Detroit manager Scott was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
