Los Angeles Defeated By Cubs, 9-4
|
The Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 9-4, at Wrigley Field. The Cubs got a fine performance from first baseman Kazuo Murakami, who was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Chicago now owns a record of 61-47.
Murakami contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Chicago in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 4-3, Murakami took a curveball from Iñigo Armenta and stroked the home run to left-center. His 24th home run of the season allowed the Cubs to leap in front, 5-4.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Murakami told the Chicago Citizen.
