The San Diego Padres powered past the New York Mets, 10-5, at Citi Field. Gerardo García provided some of the pop. He went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Cristián Arce earned the win, while 32-year old right-handed pitcher Kesaharu Asou took the loss for New York. San Diego goes to 67-40. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.

Rogelio Castro had a big 2-run double for the Padres in the top of the fifth inning. With San Diego leading 6-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Tossaporn Adulyadej and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Padres ahead, 8-3.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said San Diego manager Mario Castanon.
