Texas Rangers starter Yarlin Vargas hurled his team past the Boston Red Sox, 5-2. Vargas got the win, improving to 8-6. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Luca Headley earned the save for Texas, his 1st of the year.

Texas used a clutch at-bat from José Delgadillo to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Rangers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Yarlin was dictating to their hitters," said Texas manager Brent Rangers.

The loss makes Boston 43-62.
