Németh Lifts Hammers to 7-2 Triumph
|
Thanks in large part to first baseman Gedeon Németh, the Atlanta Hammers beat the Orlando Thoroughbreds, 7-2. Németh slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Tong-Yeop Lee, the winner, goes to 10-6. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts over 7 innings. At 59-46, Atlanta is in first place in the National League South.
Németh made an early impact for Atlanta when he stroked his 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the bottom of the third, put the Hammers on top, 6-0.
Németh told a Atlanta Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
