Athletics Shut Out Mariners, 1-0
|
Jonathan White pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Seattle Mariners, despite White's fine outing, dropped a 1-0 decision to the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Stadium. Warren Prosser, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 4-4. Stanislao Soto earned the save for Oakland, his 22nd of the year.
János Bori did the little things right to help the team for Oakland. The 2067 Rookie of the Year winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jonathan White. It was his 34th RBI of the season.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Oakland manager Matt LaDuke said.
The win lifted the Oakland record to 48-41.
