The Valley of the Sun Infernos bumped off the Portland Rose, 6-4, at Chase Field. Francisco Zambrano hit 2 singles and 2 doubles. He also had 1 RBI. Ba Huynh, who finished 5th in the AL in wins with 21 in 2083, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Earning his 23rd save for Valley of the Sun was Woodrow Hodges.

The Infernos got a big hit from designated hitter Juan Bastidas. In the bottom of the sixth, Bastidas smacked a 2-run double off Portland pitcher Ryan Hall. It was his 14th double of the season. Suddenly, the Infernos were ahead, 5-4.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Valley of the Sun manager Arizona Mike.

Their 55-29 record puts the Infernos first in the National League West.
