Chicago Sweeps into the Division Championship Series
|
It's a sweet sweep for the Chicago Cubs and they have won the Wild Card Showdown. The Philadelphia Phillies were not able to keep pace with the Cubs and dropped the series in short order, losing, 7-4, in the deciding game.
"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Philadelphia manager Bobby McGrew.
It's now on to the Division Championship Series for Chicago after their 3-0 series win.
Leading the way for the winners was left fielder Liam Hoàng, who was named MVP. For the series, Hoàng hit .400 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Chicago Cubs don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the St. Louis Cardinals - San Diego Padres series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Division Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 8th , 2080.
