Rose Win at San Diego, 7-5
|
The Portland Rose picked up a win at Petco Park, knocking off the San Diego Padres, 7-5. Starting pitcher Dylan Walsh played a key role in the triumph. Portland pitcher Simón Varas got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Kendall Potter got the loss. Portland, now 39-33, holds down second place in the American League Northwest.
Portland needed the clutch hitting of Félix Bautista to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rose on top, 7-4. For the game, Bautista had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I felt great. Had good rhythm with my mechanics," said Walsh.
