A.J. Self Hurls No-No Against Santa Clara
In a true baseball rarity, A.J. Self of the Artemisa Twins no-hit the Santa Clara Blue Jays at Ballpark Cubana and -- incredibly -- still took the loss.

The right-handed Self shackled the Blue Jays all game, allowing no hits over 8 innings. However, Santa Clara was able to cobble together enough through other means to outscore the hapless Twins offense and take an unlikely 1-0 win.

"There's no getting around it, we mucked it up for A.J. today," Artemisa manager said. "We always tell them 'Go out there and pitch a good game and we'll take care of the rest.' Well, he gave us an incredible game and we blew it, plain and simple."

A visibly upset Self declined to speak with BNN reporters following the game. He recorded 6 strikeouts and surrendered 4 walks in a sensational performance that will nevertheless go into the league record books as a loss.

This year, Self has fashioned a 3-3 mark, 1.52 ERA and pitched 29.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .134 against him and he has logged 22 strikeouts.
