Iowa Wins Round 1

There's joy in Iowa tonight as the Cubs took the Round 1 to the brink and came out on top.
The Iowa Cubs have advanced to the Pacific Series, by edging the Charlotte Knights 4-3, with the final blow coming in a 2-1 win at Werner Park.
"Whether or not there's bad blood on the field, we respect Charlotte and their players and that was one heck of a series," said Iowa left-hander Kendrick Welch, who earned series MVP honors. "You've got to give them credit, as in the end they pushed us right to the edge and that's a big test."
For the series, Welch had a 0.00 ERA over 4 innings pitched. He added 4 strikeouts with a 1-0 record.
The Iowa Cubs will play against the Saint Paul Saints in the next round. Saint Paul won their series against the Tijuana Stars 4 games to 1. The Pacific Series schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
