The Boston Red Sox licked the Chicago Cubs, 7-0. Kerény Simon deserved a big chunk of the credit. The third baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Red Sox. Pablo Sanchez, the winner, goes to 8-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Picking up his 2nd save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Reggie Ordoñez.

Boston took a 3-0 lead on Simon's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Bernie Sanders in the top of the sixth, propelled Boston to the win.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Boston skipper Jared Carter.

The Red Sox now have a record of 41-24 with the win over Chicago.
