Twins Trip Spiders, 9-6, in Extra Innings
|
The Minnesota Twins powered past the Cleveland Spiders, 9-6, at Progressive Field. Fernando Paniagua went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times, to lead the charge. Minnesota has run its win streak to 4 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Gabe Arias came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Cleveland pitcher Shareef Abdul-Muqtadir, he hit a 2-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Minnesota on top, 7-6.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Minnesota skipper Kevin Twins.
