Athletics Rally to Eke Out Win
Oakland and Anchorage engaged in a slugfest.

The Oakland Athletics overcame a pretty good performance by Anchorage second baseman Huy Trân, beating the Otters, 11-10, at The Sea. Trân was 5-6 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Oakland reliever Jordan Ambriz, now 6-0. The loser was Gilberto Porchas.

Oakland used a timely hit from Johnson Minutillo to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Athletics ahead, 11-10. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"Baseball's a game where I feel like almost everything that happens is strange," said Minutillo. "Maybe that's why it's such a great game."

The second-place Athletics now have a record of 26-21.
