Otters Down Mariners, 5-3
|
The Anchorage Otters picked up a win at The Sea, downing the Seattle Mariners, 5-3. On the mound for Anchorage was right-hander Nicolás Leos, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Leos, now 17-11. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Picking up the save was five-time Satchel Paige Award winner Hiroki Chikafuji.
The Otters got a big at-bat from second baseman Leonardo Corrales. For the game, Corrales was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 24th double of the season gave Anchorage a 3-1 lead.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Leos told the Anchorage Daily.
The Otters are now 94-67, while the Mariners fall to 72-89.
