Mets Prevail, 5-4, Over Philadelphia
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
In a close game at Citi Field, the New York Mets edged the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4. New York designated hitter John Brainard stood apart with his performance. He went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. The win was credited to Kellan Buth in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Craig Williams took the loss. Van Nguyên earned the save, his 31st.
Barry Rizer, the 15th overall pick in the 2071 draft, aided the New York cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the left fielder went 1 for 4 with a walk.
Rizer told a New York Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The last-place Mets are now 74-84, the Phillies 80-78.
