Hammers Score Late to Nip Cardinals, 5-4
|
The Atlanta Hammers wiggled past the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4, at Henry Aaron Memorial Ballpark. The win was highlighted by the performance of Atlanta pitcher Gonzalo Retzer. Atlanta reliever Max Tweed was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Oscar Canas. The Hammers have now won 5 straight.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 14th inning, when Atlanta left fielder Donald Bell, facing Oscar Canas, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Hammers the 5-4 win.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Retzer.
