González Beats Reds for 200th Win
His goal at twenty was to win twenty games one year, pitch until he was thirty, win the league pennant and to make some money. Well, Ernesto González did something even better -- the 35-year-old St. Louis Cardinals star has now won 200 games in his career. That put him in a very select group of pitchers.

He joined that exclusive club today at Great American Ball Park by whipping the Cincinnati Reds 8-4, holding them to 7 hits in 5 innings while chalking up 6 strikeouts and no walks.

In the postgame interview, the modest González said, "It's special to win 200 games. You don't do it by yourself. You do it with good stuff and a good bullpen. You are only as good as the guys behind you. Years from now I might look back on it and give myself a little pat on the back."

In his career, the 35-year-old González has accumulated a 200-115 won-lost mark and opposing clubs have hit .236 against him.
