Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Samuel Cordero said his club's tilt with the Moravian Falls Players "felt almost like batting practice." The 24-year-old shortstop went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate.

"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.

However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Gill Whalers, who were topped by the Players, 9-4.

"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Whalers manager said. "Sometimes Samuel is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose."

Samuel Cordero hit a solo-shot off Brody Fountaine in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

Cordero is hitting .365 in 2084 with 69 RBIs and 12 home runs.
