Diablos Reyes Smacks 5 Hits
|
Mariano Reyes was at the head of a Clarks Diablos hit parade at Big Train Park. The 29-year-old went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Omaha Big Train that marched off with the 5-4 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Diablos skipper following the game. "Mariano did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Reyes did more than fine, dominating the Big Train at the plate during his record-making 5-for-7 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging third baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Mariano Reyes singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, singled in the 8th, flied out in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
In 87 games this year, Reyes has posted a .358 average and put up these numbers: 15 home runs, 65 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
