Giants Win Thriller, 3-2
|
San Francisco turned a good effort from starter Shawn Chacon into a win over the Montreal Expos at Candlestick Park. The final score was 3-2. San Francisco reliever Rick Ankiel picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Chris Demaria was saddled with the loss. Now 10-21, the Expos have not played well this season.
The clutch hit was provided by Mike Mansell. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Chris Demaria in the bottom of the ninth.
"This wasn't a good win," said Chacon. "It was a great win."
